چکیده

This paper describes the automated creation of a textured face mask of a natural person suitable for realtime animation. A 3D surface polygon face mask is used. A set of muscles is defined to animate the mask. The mask is adapted to a real person using 3D surface data from a calibrated stereo sensor. Firstly, the facial features of the mask are aligned to the 3D data by scaling the mask. Secondly, a local shape adaptation moves the mask vertices along their surface normals to be coplanar with the measured 3D surface. The adapted mask is textured from one of the stereo images yielding a highly realistic impression. The predefined muscles are used to animate the textured mask. Generating a Population of Animated faces from Pictures

This paper describes a simple and robust method for generating photo-realistic animated face population in a virtual world. First we make a small set of 3D-virtual faces just using photo data, using a method so called virtual cloning. Then we use very intuitive 3D-morphing system to generate a new population, which is profited from 3D-structure of existing virtual faces. The virtual cloning met...

Issues in Fast 3D Reconstruction from Video Sequences

In this paper, we discuss methods for incorporating data acquired as 3D surface scans of human faces into applications such as 3D animation and biometric 3D facial recognition. In both applications the challenge is to accurately and consistently find predefined features such as the corners of the eyes and the tip of the nose. In the field of biometry, if 3D face recognition is to compete with 2...

Physically-based facial modelling, analysis, and animation

We develop a new 3D hierarchical model of the human face. The model incorporates a physically-based approximation to facial tissue and a set of anatomically-motivated facial muscle actuators. Despite its sophistication, the model is efficient enough to produce facial animation at interactive rates on a high-end graphics workstation. A second contribution of this paper is a technique for estimat...

Chapter VIII Modeling and Synthesis of Realistic Visual Speech in 3 D

The problem of realistic face animation is a difficult one. This is hampering a further breakthrough of some high-tech domains, such as special effects in the movies, the use of 3D face models in communications, the use of avatars and likenesses in virtual reality, and the production of games with more subtle scenarios. This work attempts to improve on the current stateof-the-art in face animat...

Realistic 3D Human Facial Animation

Construction and animation of realistic human facial models is an important research field in computer graphics. How to simulate the motions of human faces on 3D facial models in real-time to generate realistic facial expressions is still a challenge. In this paper, a technique to simulate the human facial animation realistically in real-time is presented. First of all, the 3D facial model is d...
